Neutral Baby Bedding
Thinking about getting neutral baby bedding?
If you want to be surprised at the birth and find out the gender of your baby there, it is of the utmost importance that you find some great neutral baby bedding. You could go the old ‘white and yellow‘ route, but what if you want something a little more modern for your baby? And it should not be difficult for you to find something. Every color has now opened up to being gender neutral, except for pink.
Though it does not matter to the baby, parents would probably not like it if their son had a pink bedroom. However, many girls now have blue bedrooms. Common colors to replace white and yellow are now green, red, and tan.
Almost all department stores have a large section for baby bedding and they should all carry gender neutral collections. This will not only be cheaper, but it will all match, and you can get everything in one stop. It is probably good to buy gender neutral in the first place if you intend on having more than one child.
Things have really expanded in the past decade in terms of making an aesthetically pleasing gender neutral baby room. The bedding (which means much of the other stuff, too) can have some really nice motifs instead of being just one solid neutral color. You could do landscapes or children’s characters embroidered on the bedding.
And since you will find your baby bedding easily in a collection, this means that the changing station will be of the same material and style. You can find baby clothes to match the bedding, alone with towels, diaper bags, and a stroller. And since it is all in a large collection, the store will not be ’sold out’ of one product you really want; there are other stores and you can always go online.
Baby bedding–and other baby accoutrement–tends to be very soft and on the subtle side. No one wants their baby overwhelmed by the too-bright or the too-much. So since this is the case, you can feel really good about having everything match. Things in collections are made to compliment each other, not to over power a baby’s room.
This does not mean that things in collections are the absolute best choice for your baby, however. You need to get what is safest and most comfortable, regardless if it matches or is gender neutral. You child is only going to outgrow all of this bedding anyway–your safety measures can ensure of that. You really need to think of function and then think of style. What good is a beautiful pillow if it is going present a suffocation hazard to your baby?
Here are the things you really need: a firm mattress is the first stop. Not only is it the centerpiece of your room, but the firmness of a mattress has a direct correlation to SIDS. Make sure the crib slats are very close together. You do not want your baby escaping when he or she gets old enough, nor do you want him or her getting hurt if he or she tries to get out. You only need enough blankets to keep your baby warm. This usually means one sheet and one blanket, both tightly tucked in so your baby does not get tangled, and no pillow until the child gets older.
